So I'm sitting with the cats on the floor last week, and I look up at my bay window, and there's a gimongous spider crawling down it. I mean big, the damn thing's body is a size of a quarter! I pointed it out to Mr. W, who immediately got the heebie-jeebies from me. We didn't know spiders that size lived around here, man. I assumed our limb-snapping winters froze the bastards out.

I thought about taking her web down, but I was thinking she'd serve a purpose up there. After all, she was keeping the cats entertained when she went on her rare structural-maintenance missions. She grossed me out and fascinated me at the same time.

Today I looked up at something moving in the window. A wasp was caught in her web, and she (I'm guessing it's a she) was shimmying down to it. I was inches away, watching her as she rolled that wasp up in a nice batch of silk. It was like the fucking Discovery channel, right at my house and everything! We have a major wasp problem in the city this year, and she just took one of the bastards out. I'm allergic to wasps, so for now the spider stays. I just hope she isn't poisonous or some crazy shit like that.

My camera is woefully inadequate to taking pictures of her, but I managed to get one by jamming it up against the glass. I'll put it below the cut so you don't have to look at it if these things freak you out.
